Holy Week at Escalon Presbyterian
Holy week is one of the most important weeks of the year at Escalon Presbyterian. Join us as we journey through the last week in the life of our Lord! The anticipation, sorrow, and final joy will be our path from Palm Sunday through Easter.
- Palm Sunday – April 5, 2009 – 10:30 AM
Join the worship and celebration, as those who welcomed Jesus into the city at the start of His journey to the Cross. As they did in ages past, palms will be waved in celebration. Children will process waving palms in the air. Jesus always made time for children during his ministry on earth. This is beautifully symbolic and an important tradition of the church.
- Good Friday – April 10, 2009 – 6:30 PM
This evening follows the tradition of “Tenebrae”, which means shadows. Through choral meditations, Scripture readings, congregational participation, and the extinguishing of candles, we will focus on the passion and death of our Lord. We will walk with Him down a path of grief, penitence, pity, and forgiveness. As St. Augustine has written: “In all my adversities, I have not found any remedies so powerful as the passion and wounds of Jesus. In them I sleep securely. In them I rest without fear.” Please take advantage of our childcare during this service.
- Easter Sunday – April 12, 2009 – 10:30 AM
Join us for this exuberant worship service filled with the reality of our Lord’s Resurrection! Let us vibrantly adore and celebrate the one who died for our sins, but was raised victoriously on the third day. We will celebrate with Choir, Praise Team, Organ, Piano, Guitar, and trumpet. He is Alive!
