Celebrate!

From January Pres by Joel Adams

The new year is a time for many to reflect on the past and look toward the future.  Sometimes the tendency is to only look at the negative things in our lives that need to be improved.  Resolutions are readily made, but rarely kept!  I am committed to spend more time celebrating the successes in life!

As I reflect upon the music at EPC in the year 2008, my heart rejoices.  Whether quite and reflective or thunderous and majestic, each moment has an important place in the life of our congregation.  These moments define our church and draw us closer to God and each other.  It is not just music, but Divine Worship of God.  Our church instrumentalists and vocalists have excelled in heart and skill.  Through worship leadership, each person has contributed greatly to our congregation.  This is worthy of celebration and whole-hearted thanks to God!  I celebrate the lives of those who lifted their voice on Sunday mornings, rising above their struggles within.  I celebrate those who practiced and practiced and practiced and practiced…until they got the part right!  I celebrate the grace given to a sometimes cranky and distracted director (ME)!  I celebrate the smiles of those who were surprised at just what they could accomplish through dedication and hard work!  I celebrate the holy moments of silence following a choir anthem – the Spirit of God at work!  I celebrate the tears of those who are tender-hearted.  I celebrate the infectious smiles of those who bring joy into our midst.  I celebrate people, who make the pages come alive.  I celebrate all the music we sang, ancient and modern!  I CELEBRATE this year and especially those people that made it incredible!

We do have many plans for 2009!  Choir practice will resume rehearsal on Wed, January 7 at 7pm.  Please contact me directly if you would like to participate in the music at EPC.
