Many of you have read or will read various articles that suggest that a change has been made in the denomination of which our church is a member (PC-USA). Specifically, the change reported is a change to allow practicing homosexuals to serve as clergy, elders or deacons. What is the road ahead look like? The long and the short of it is that there is a...

Due to requests to help alleviate the inordinate amount of time needed to leave a message at the church, we’ve updated our phone system to try to solve two problems at once – 1) the ability to leave messages for the pastor and secretary in a timely manner and 2) the ability to try to reach someone in other parts of our facility who might be meeting there. Here’s the solution we’ve come up with. During Office Hours - The phone will ring a number of times and if there is no answer, the menu options will come up. At...

I’ve grown quite fond of the Bishop N. T. Wright. N. T. Wright has become a world-renowned scholar of New Testa-ment with quite a number of books in the field of the NT as well as biblical theology. Wright is also a bishop in the Anglican Church, most recently as Bishop of Durham in England. Wright has just recently ac-cepted a post as Research Professor of New Testa-ment and Early Christianity at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. One of the first reasons I enjoy Wright is that his scholarly work is impeccable. He has embarked on...

The second statement of our church’s mission statement, after the first and most important (Seek – to bring others to faith in Jesus Christ), is a statement showing our commitment to mission: Serve – in mission locally and globally. As the year 2009 passes I’d like to highlight the ways in which our congregation has served in mission both in giving and in action. Over the past year – our congregation has given well over 10% of our giving to mission. Our annual budget gives around $10,000 to the work of mission in our Presbytery...

The following is the text from a classic hymn concerning the Sovereignty of God in times of struggle. We hope these lyrics could be a strength for you in whatever season you are presently in. This hymn greatly sustained our friend David Jolliff in his struggle with cancer and will be a part of his service of burial. What God Ordains Is Always Good By: Samuel Rodigast What God ordains is always good: His will is just and holy. As he directs my life for me, I follow meek and lowly. My God indeed, In every need, Knows well how he will shield...
